Nicholas Gottschall graduated summa cum laude from Whitman College with a B.A. in religion with honors and a minor in music. He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He spent the fall semester of his junior year studying North Indian arts and culture with the School for International Training in New Delhi. While abroad he had the opportunity to conduct an independent study project on the historically multireligious aspects of Bodhgaya's Mahabodhi Temple, the subject of his subsequent undergraduate thesis. During college, he participated in various musical groups as a percussionist, hosted a show on the college radio station, and mentored youth as a volunteer. He has spent the last two years serving as an AmeriCorps volunteer in Chicago, first as a tutor and mentor for teens in a residential scholarship program, then as an english tutor and teaching assistant at a community center in the diverse Northwest Side |
